Lt. Col. Robert E. Vorhees II is the Staff Judge Advocate Special Operations Command
Africa (SOCAF). As the principal legal advisor to the Joint Sub-Unified Commander, he
is responsible for planning joint and combined special operations; advising on fiscal,
administrative, ethical, contractual, and disciplinary issues; and oversight of judge
advocates at three subordinate forward commands.
Prior to this position Lt. Col. Vorhees served as the Staff Judge Advocate to the United
States Military Training Mission in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In 2015 he completed
a Master of Laws Degree Program (LL.M.) at Columbia University in the City of New
York with a specialization in international law. He has also previously served as the
Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, 19th Airlift Wing, Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas,
and as the Senior Medical Law Consultant at David Grant Medical Center, Travis AFB,
California.
Major Vorhees entered the Air Force under the Direct Appointment Program in 2004. He
is admitted to practice law in California.
