Final Theses

The theses supervised by the professorship are thematically oriented towards the teaching and research activities of the professorship. You can find an overview of currently advertised theses as well as further information on working on the topics, the possibility of registering for a topic, a format template and important guidelines in the Master's thesis portal of the Faculty of Law.

After prior consultation with the respective supervisor at the professorship, you can also submit your own topic suggestions.

Before accepting and starting work on a topic, you must submit a written synopsis (approx. 3-5 pages), which must be agreed with the supervisor. The exposé serves to specify the objective and should contain the following components:

  • A brief motivation (with selected scientific sources to illustrate the relevance of the topic)
  • Objective of the work
  • Overview of the methodological approach to the objective
  • Schedule of the work (in tabular form or as a Gantt chart)
  • First draft of an outline of the thesis

Towards the middle of the processing period, the progress of the thesis is presented in a colloquium for theses. The colloquium is held online and, in addition to discussing open questions, also serves to receive feedback and suggestions for further work from the respective supervisor.

Please note: The Zukunft: Karriere und Kompetenzen (ZKK) team at the University of Passau regularly offers seminars and further training courses on academic work. Further information can be found on the official website of the ZKK. In addition, the Passau search portal of the Passau University Library offers numerous books on this topic that can be helpful for getting started with academic work.
