In Tampere, Prof. Dr. Nora Nahr presented research findings on human-machine collaboration and the impact of AI on knowledge work. The results emerged from a research collaboration with Prof. Dr. Konstantin Hopf from Chemnitz University of Technology.
In the paper "Human or AI Collaborator? An Experimental Comparison of Human and Machine Translators," the authors use an experimental approach to examine how well people can distinguish AI-generated translations from those produced by human experts, and how they rate the translations in terms of readability, accuracy, and usefulness. The study is grounded in role theory and concludes with implications for the future division of labor and for the ethically and legally responsible use of these tools.

After the conference, Prof. Nahr visited the University of Turku, where she met with colleagues to discuss the launch of new joint EU research projects on data sovereignty and the creation of responsible, pan-European digital data spaces.
