"The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) of 1980 enjoys continued international support and – despite the absence of important economies such as the United Kingdom, India or South Africa – is often considered the most successful example of legal cooperation on a global scale. Interesting questions concerning the application of the Convention in daily commercial practice and its future perspectives as a facilitator for the international trade in goods remain, however, and will be discussed in an open Q+A format during this event. These include, inter alia, the use of the CISG in the United States, the influence of China as a global (legal) player, judicial cooperation absent a transnational system of adjudicating disputes, and – more generally – the interaction between common law and civilian systems within the ambit of a global legal regime."
