Crossroads

Crossroads is a series of events that focuses on systems in transition. Flexible in their choice of format and aimed at audiences both within and outside the university, they seek to trace and critically discuss contemporary developments in law and society across the Anglo-American legal world. The next event takes place on the 17th May 2018, 6 p.m. in HS 14 (JUR).

| Lesedauer: 1 Min.

The guests are Prof. Michael Bridge, LES and Prof. Dr. Ulrich Magnus, Hamburg.

"The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) of 1980 enjoys continued international support and – despite the absence of important economies such as the United Kingdom, India or South Africa – is often considered the most successful example of legal cooperation on a global scale. Interesting questions concerning the application of the Convention in daily commercial practice and its future perspectives as a facilitator for the international trade in goods remain, however, and will be discussed in an open Q+A format during this event. These include, inter alia, the use of the CISG in the United States, the influence of China as a global (legal) player, judicial cooperation absent a transnational system of adjudicating disputes, and – more generally – the interaction between common law and civilian systems within the ambit of a global legal regime."

We thank the Chair of Common Law for this event.
